Current Initiative - Reduce the punishment for prostitution charges.
Today, a worker picked up for prostitution can be charged with a criminal misdemeanor, a charge that can come with huge fines, jail time, and future struggles finding work in vanilla industries.
We are working to pass a Pittsburgh ordinance that reduces those charges to a summary charge with no jail time and a small fine or community service.
June 24 at 9am, we'll be gathering at the Pittsburgh City-County Building portico to rally to support our new Safer Sex Work bill.
We know it's early, but your presence goes a long way to showing politicians that Pittsburgh cares about workers. Come as you are, in PJs or in heels!
June 24 - 9am - Rally
July 2 - 10am - Council discusses the new bill. Join to give a one-minute speech in support.
July 8 - 10am - Council votes on supporting sex workers
If you can't make any of these dates, it helps a ton to send an email to your councilperson.
Letter of support - Join organizations and individuals across Pittsburgh by signing this letter to support the new ordinance.
Mission - Create a Pittsburgh where Sex Workers can do their job safely without fear of incarceration, stigma, or violence.
